Introducing the Nuvinty Index: rating luxury on sustainability
At Nuvinty, we've always believed that great style and a clear conscience shouldn't be at odds. Luxury is, at its best, about pieces made beautifully, to last, and to be passed on. So as we bring together the finest new and pre-loved designer pieces in one place, we wanted to give you a simple way to see which brands are genuinely building a better future for fashion — and which still have work to do.
That's the Nuvinty Index: a 0–5 sustainability rating for the brands we feature, shown as a little leaf 🌿 beside their name.
Why we built it
Sustainability claims in fashion can be noisy and hard to read. The Index cuts through that. It's our editorial view — informed by respected public sources — of how seriously a brand takes its impact, so you can factor it into your choices without doing hours of research yourself.
How we score
Every rating weighs five things:
- Responsible sourcing — where materials come from, and whether they're certified (Fairmined gold, RJC, and the like).
- Materials & circularity — recycled and lower-impact materials, and design that lasts, repairs and resells rather than ends up as waste.
- Transparency — how openly a brand reports its supply chain and impact.
- Commitments & progress — credible targets, and real evidence they're being met.
- Certifications — independent verification such as B‑Corp status.
We lean on public sources like Good On You, the Fashion Transparency Index and B‑Corp records, alongside brands' own commitments. Scores are refined over time — this is a living framework, not the last word.
Who's leading
A few of the names topping the Index today: Stella McCartney (5/5), a true pioneer of sustainable luxury; Reformation and Chopard (4.5/5), the latter for its 100% ethical gold; and accessible favourites like Pandora and Ganni (4/5) for recycled materials and real transparency.
How to use it
Look for the 🌿 leaf next to a brand as you browse. Want the full picture? Visit the Nuvinty Index to see every rated brand ranked, the exact criteria, and why each brand scored what it did — then shop the pieces you love, knowing the story behind them.
This is just the beginning. We'll keep expanding the Index as we add brands, and we'll be sharing more of the labels and projects moving luxury forward — right here in the Journal.
